Top Ten Tips on How to Spoil Your Dog

We all love looking after our dogs but how often do you go the extra mile and really spoil him? If it has been a while since you did this then perhaps it is time to do something about it.

Spoiling your pet can be really easy to do and will be a lot of fun for you as well as for them. So what are the best ways of doing this? Read on for our top ten tips on how to spoil your dog.

Take Them for a Walk

Just going out with your dog for a walk might not sound like much but it can be a tremendous experience for them. Getting out and about gives them the chance to sniff out new places and meet interesting new friends. If you have a local park then this can be a great choice as long as you think that they will be fine interacting with other dogs. Changing your route and exploring new places will keep them happy and excited to go out for walks too. It is also great exercise for both of you.

Take Them for a Drive

After a while you will run out of new places you can take them to by walking. So why not hop in the car together and head out further afield? Even a 5 or 10 minute car journey can be long enough for you to take them somewhere completely different. If you have a river, beach or forest nearby then they will love it.

Groom Them

Once they get used to it, most dogs love being groomed. Set aside time for bathing them and brushing their hair regularly. As well as giving them a special treat, this will also ensure that you have a handsome and nice smelling dog around the house! You will find a lot of different pet grooming products on sale and it can be good fun to try out a few different ones. If they do not seem too keen on this at first then you should take baby steps to get them used to it. They should end up looking forward to bath day and other grooming experiences.

Clean Their Teeth

Many dogs suffer from dental problems at some point, which can lead to bad breath and other health problems. A lot of owners don’t even realise that it is possible to brush their dog’s teeth. You can easily get hold of a special toothbrush and toothpaste that you can use on them. At first it might seem a bit weird but they should grow to enjoy getting their teeth cleaned. You will also notice their breath getting fresher, while their teeth should stay strong and healthy for longer too.

Give Them Some Tasty Treats

Tasty dog treats are great for rewarding them for behaving well. If you get a bag of these then you can spoil them whenever you feel that they deserve it. Some treats are also specially formulated to look after teeth and keep dogs healthy as well. Whenever you take them out for a walk just slip a bag of treats into your pocket to reward them along the way. This will keep them happy and let you encourage them when they show good behaviour and will reinforce that, just don’t overdo it!

Play Together

No matter how many toys they have, your dog is sure to prefer playing with you rather than on their own. Find some time when you are free and can enjoy some time playing with them. If you have a back yard then this is the ideal place to play with a ball or some other toys. A collection of dog toys can come in handy but if you don’t have any to hand then they will be happy with nothing more than a stick to play with.

Play Them Music or Videos

It might sound weird but there are special pet CDs and DVDs that they might end up absolutely loving. For instance, it has been suggested that classical music can be use to soothe and calm pets. This means that some people will put on a CD before they go out in order to relax their pet. You can also try out a DVD specific ally for dogs. These show the sorts of outdoor action and scenery that dogs love to see.

Let Them Sleep in Comfort

We all know how important it is to get a good night’s sleep. This applies to our canine friends just as it does to us. You can make sure that they sleep well by putting the bed somewhere peaceful and maybe laying out some of their favourite toys there too. If you want to really spoil your dog then you will find that there are plenty of luxury pet beds on sale that will let them sleep like never before.

Give Them a Great Dining Experience

There are some really good options for giving your dog a luxurious dining experience. For example, you could get them a stylish food dish or a classy water fountain. Elevated dishes are also helpful for letting them eat comfortably. As for the meal options, there are some incredible dog foods around these days that will help them stay healthy while thoroughly enjoying the food.

Spend Time With Them

The best way you can spoil your dog is by simply spending as much time with them as possible. This is what they crave most of all and once you try it you will see that it can be a lot of fun. We all lead busy lives these days and it can be easy to neglect our pets without even realising that we are doing it. If you are keen to truly spoil them then all you have to do is set aside some time each day to spend with them. They will love being with you no matter what it is you are doing or where you are. You are sure to feel good about doing it as well and might find that it helps you to relax and avoid getting stressed out too.
